The rally will commence at 4:45 pm, gathering briefly at the Cowboy Statue on the corner of Sale Rd. and Ryan St. Participants will then embark on a 3.8-mile walk to Veteran’s Memorial Park near the Civic Center at 5:00 pm. Finally, at 7:30 pm, attendees will bid farewell to the Relay Team as they continue their month-long journey to Dallas.

Origins of Carry The Load: Carry The Load was founded in 2011 by U.S. Navy SEALs Clint Bruce and Stephen Holley to restore the true meaning of Memorial Day. What started as a local walk has evolved into a nationwide movement spanning nearly all 50 states. This year, Lake Charles proudly welcomes Carry The Load, joining the National Relay Team to commemorate Memorial May—a month-long event emphasizing the importance of honoring our heroes.

Registration and Donations: Participants can register for free and contribute donations through the Carry The Load SWLA team page. As a registered 501c3 nonprofit organization, Carry The Load’s mission is to actively honor and remember our military, veterans, first responders, and their families. Chamber Fest and Crawfish Cook-Off: On May 27, Westlake, LA, will host two exciting events. The 3rd annual Chamber Fest, presented by CSE Federal Credit Union, is a business expo with a festival twist. Held at Ponderosa Park, it offers a day filled with enjoyment for the whole family.
